Our Story
Computer Networks, Inc. was founded in 2004 by James R. “Rick” Boyles. He believed that small and mid sized businesses deserved structured, professional IT support without unnecessary complexity.
What began as hands on technical support gradually evolved into a managed IT and cybersecurity firm. Over time, we expanded our services to include compliance support, infrastructure planning, and ongoing system oversight.
However, one thing has never changed. We remain locally owned, family operated, and committed to serving Hampton Roads businesses responsibly.

James R. “Rick” Boyles
Founder and President
Rick Boyles founded Computer Networks, Inc. in 2004 with a clear goal. He wanted to provide reliable, professional IT support to businesses across Hampton Roads without unnecessary complexity.
Over the past 20 years, Rick has guided CNI’s growth from a hands on technology support company into a structured managed IT and cybersecurity firm. Throughout that growth, the company has remained family owned and locally operated.
Rick focuses on accountability, long term client relationships, and responsible technology planning. As a result, many of our client partnerships span years and continue to grow alongside the businesses we support.
Grant Boyles
Service Delivery Manager | Infrastructure and Client Operations
Grant Boyles brings more than 20 years of hands on experience delivering IT infrastructure solutions for healthcare, professional services, manufacturing, and multi location organizations.
He oversees infrastructure planning, Microsoft 365 migrations, security implementation, backup strategy, and day to day service delivery. In addition, he supports environments that include hundreds of endpoints across multiple locations.
Grant specializes in aligning business goals with practical technical execution. Rather than deploying isolated tools, he focuses on building secure and scalable environments designed to support long term operational stability.
